WE ARE FINALLY COMING HOME!
Mom and Denny are leaving Grand Strand tomorrow (Sunday, August 20th) at 6 AM via TMC (TransMedCare). She is very happy that Denny can ride with her. They will be taking her straight to Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital.
I wanted to create a post to provide everyone with a little information about Dodd. We are asking that no one try to come and see her tomorrow as she wants to get settled before seeing anyone.
Dodd Rehabilitation Hospital is located at 480 Medical Center Dr, Columbus, OH 43210. Visiting hours are from 6 AM-8 PM. The website says she can only have 2 guests at a time but someone we talked to over the phone said there is not a limit. So, we will have to see once we are there!
Mom will be in a "semi-private" room. We are not exactly sure what that means and do not have a room number for her yet. I will update the website with that information when I get it.
At Dodd, mom will receive 15 hours a week of therapy, which would work out to about 3 hours a day, Monday-Friday. We are not sure if therapy will be on a schedule or not, but I will again share that information once I have it. According to our contact person at Dodd, a typical stay for a person with a spinal cord injury is 19 days. Depending on how mom is progressing, she could potentially stay longer if her team decides.
There is food within walking distance of the hospital and a cafeteria. She should have access to a fridge if we wanted to take turns bringing her home cooked meals.
Mom is already talking about creating a visitor schedule so everyone can have time to see her (she is a very popular lady). I will potentially start working on this Monday.
Please reach out if you have any questions. See everyone soon!
